The alarming rise of teenage and youth suicides in G.B (Gilgit Baltistan)
In recent years incidences of suicides appear to have increased in Ghizer, Hunza and other areas of Gilgit Baltistan and this trend of suicide attempt has become a major problem of the area. According to the human right commission of Pakistan from 2010 and onward there are more than 150 people in G.B who took their lives. Among them the highest rate is of teenage and young people of age 18- 30. In 2017 more than 20 young girls and boys committed suicide. This issue is not just bounded to some areas but the entire Gilgit Baltistan. Usually urban areas are considered to be physiologically comfortable. And natural environment can provide opportunities for stress recovery and also can reduce the risk of anxiety and depression.
